BIOGRAPHY

 

Ella Condon is a Sydney based artist whose practice investigates the experience of presence within spaces that have been reinvented. Condon interacts with spaces through sound, photography and installation based practice. Her most recent work draws on Callan Park Lunatic Asylum and a social, psychological and family connection to this asylum.

 

Ella curated the Bondi Illumination Screening, Echoes of Echo at Bondi Pavilion (2011). She was selected for the Redlands Westpac Art Prize by Rob Scott Mitchell (2010) curated by Lindy Lee. Ella was commissioned to document the Australian artists at the Venice Biennale (2009) for Australia Council of the Arts. Her work has been acquired by Australia Council of the Arts, and Gold Coast City Art Gallery as part of the Josephine Ulrick & Win Schubert Photography Award.

 

Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally including as part of the New York International Fringe Festival, Centre for Contemporary Photography Melbourne and the Australian Centre for Photography Sydney, and a range of Sydney based galleries.

 

Ella has a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours Class 1) from Sydney College of Arts, University of Sydney, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Distinction) from the College of Fine Arts, University of NSW. Ella is a candidate for a Master of Fine Arts by Research, University of Sydney.
